This alpine canton is guided by an Environmental Protection Plan and its Action Plan for the reduction of airborne particulate matter emissions, which includes tackling traffic emissions, energy efficiency and waste management practices, to safeguard the health of of its 420,000 residents.
Sarajevo Canton faces classic urban air pollution challenges, which are compounded by our geography, but we are working unilaterally and with international help and guidance to put in place measures that will tackle one of our biggest sources of air pollution, traffic, and that will enhance our air quality monitoring capabilities to help us protect public health and make sure that our measures are working according to plan."
