Let's join together to halve the nearly 7 million deaths annually from air pollution and slow the rate of global warming by 2030.
We may not always see it, but air pollution is the cause of some of our most common illnesses.
36% of deaths from lung cancer
35% of deaths from COPD (Pulmonary disease)
34% of deaths from stroke
27% of deaths from heart disease
WHO and the Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) have identified nearly 20 ways to clear the air, many of which can have large and immediate benefits to both our health and our climate.
Cities that have taken steps to reduce air pollution are already succeeding. More than one-third of monitored cities in low- to middle-income countries and more than half in high-income countries have reduced their air pollution levels by 5% over the past 5 years.
